Funding - Border Area Development Programme
The Border Area Development Programme which was earlier a 100% centrally funded Area Programme has been converted to 60:40 sharing pattern w.e.f 2016-17. Funds are allocated amongst the seventeen beneficiary States on the basis of (i) length of international border (ii) population of border blocks and (iii) area of border blocks. Each of these criteria is given equal weightage. The border block is the spatial unit for the programme and all schemes are implemented within the border blocks only. The funds received from Govt. of India are allocated among the six border districts of Amritsar, Gurdaspur, TarnTaran, Ferozepur, Fazilka and Pathankot on the basis of criteria adopted by Govt. of India for distribution of funds amongst border states.
